Fallen Angels Dance Theatre have been awarded funding through Cheshire West and Chester’s Equality and Diversity Event fund to support “Celebrating Recovery Event” in Grosvenor Park on Sunday 15th September 12-4pm.
The main aim of the event is to promote visible recovery from addiction and mental health issues. Fallen Angels are working in partnership with Chester Plus,Peer led mental health Charity and WDP The local substance misuse treatment service for Cheshire West and Chester.
“We are delighted to be bringing together services, mutual aid groups, charities and individuals in recovery for this celebration. We hope that by connecting with the public at the event, we bring about a better understanding that people can and do recover from addiction, and that there is a thriving local recovery community who are welcoming to anyone in need of support” Says Claire Morris from Fallen Angels.
People in recovery, their friends and families, and all those who support recovery in Cheshire West and Chester will gather together and they hope that members of the public will join them at their family friendly event, to celebrate and show support and solidarity for recovery. Planning has been taking place with local people in recovery:
‘I view the recovery day as not only a celebration, but a pathway. Everyone in the community is so passionate about rebuilding lives it can inspire anybody at any stage of their journey to take the next step. In my journey through recovery, every organisation that will be attending the recovery day have played a part in changing my life and helping me understand who I am. The recovery day also represents options as it isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ process, but there will be something there to offer hope to everyone that attends.’ says Luke
There will be FREE recovery themed art, live music, activities and dance performance around the Pavilion including face painting, craft and t-shirt printing. If you are keen to print a white t-shirt there will be 30 available on the day on a first come first served basis, so if you are keen to try the activity and don’t want to miss out, we encourage you to bring your own! There will also be information stalls, and open meetings with mutual aid support groups in the Gift Cafe.
